Mike Comet, Secretary


Michael Comet has over 20 years of business management experience. He graduated with a degree in Hotel Restaurant Management from Chicago’s Roosevelt University and with an MBA from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. As a son of Greek immigrants, Michael was groomed early for the restaurant business and after college managed a landmark restaurant, Binyon’s in the financial district of downtown Chicago. After his tenure with Binyon’s, Michael ventured into the consumer goods retail market as an entrepreneur, opening a chain of five Dollar Stores in the Chicagoland and south suburban markets. Since 1996, Michael and his brother, John, have been owner-operators of the franchise operations of a small independent Champaign-based Pepsi bottler.

Personally and professionally, Michael is committed to his family and his community. In addition to his service on the Christie Foundation board, Michael is a member of several other charitable boards and business associations, including the Three Hierarchs Greek Orthodox Church, United Way Campaign of Champaign County, and Young Presidents Organization Central Region USA. Michael and his wife, Panagiota, have two children.
