Spring 2011 Living Well Seminar Series Announced

Each year, the Christie Foundation hosts a series of LIVING WELL health education seminars open to all community residents. Covering a wide range of medically-related subjects, the one-hour seminars have drawn hundreds of individuals over the years. The free seminars are held at Christie Clinic on Windsor in the 2nd Floor Education Room from 7:30-8:30AM. A complimentary continental breakfast is served, including coffee, juice, bagels, muffins, fruit, and more. Seating at each seminar is limited to 50 participants.

Vaccines: Not just for kids

Most adults are not seeing a doctor for regular wellness check-ups, and aside from the flu vaccine, most adults are not getting vaccinated for things that could keep them from becoming very ill. Dr. Antonsen will share some immunizations that adults need to know about.

Learn from Pam Ryan about sleep as the new “vital sign”, from Terra Diskin about critical pulmonary function tests, from Cheryl Page about why you need mammogram and DEXA/bone density screenings done, and from Mary Stech on Life’s Simple 7: seven key factors for achieving excellent cardiovascular health.

All seminars are held at Christie Clinic on Windsor in the 2nd Floor Education Room. A complimentary continental breakfast is served and seating is limited to 60 participants.

Speaker Biographies

Kenneth Bilger, Chief Financial Officer, Christie Clinic

Kenny Bilger is responsible for Christie Clinic’s financial, business, information technology, and facility operations. Kenny is also Chairman and CEO of Community Partners Health Plans, Inc., a Champaign-based health care services company offering comprehensive PPO network solutions, third-party administration, and general agency services to providers, payors, and employers. Bilger received his MBA from the University of Illinois and is a Certified Public Accountant.

Ingrid Antonsen, MD, Christie Clinic

Dr. Antonsen has been Chairperson of Christie Clinic’s Family Medicine Department for 11 years, overseeing Family Medicine providers in Champaign, Urbana, Rantoul, Mahomet, Danville, and Tuscola. She serves as a Family Medicine Physician at Christie Clinic’s Windsor Road facility. She specializes in non-surgical illnesses from infancy to adulthood and wellness care. Dr. Antonsen attended the University of Illinois, receiving her Master of Arts degree in 1982. She attended Southern Illinois University School of Medicine, did her internship with SUI’s School of Medicine in Decatur, and her residency at Decatur Memorial Hospital and St. Mary's Hospital in Decatur.

Pam Ryan, BS, RPSGT, Christie Clinic, CU Sleep

Pam Ryan has worked in the field of sleep medicine for 12 years, and currently manages Christie Clinic’s sleep laboratory, C U Sleep. She holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology and is a board-registered sleep technologist.

Mary Stech, Nurse Practitioner, Christie Clinic Department of Cardiology

Mary Stech has worked at Christie Clinic in the Pulmonary and Cardiology departments since 2007. She earned her Associate Degree in Nursing from Parkland College and her Bachelor’s of Science and Master’s of Science degrees in Nursing from Mennonite College of Nursing at Illinois State University. She has been certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner since 2002.

Cheryl Page, R.T. (R)(M)(CDT), Mammographer, Christie Clinic

Cheryl Page received her Radiologic Technology (RT) degree from Parkland College in 1991. She worked for Carle Hospital for almost nine years in general x-ray, CT (computed tomography), and angiography. In 1999, Page moved to Christie Clinic where she became a registered mammographer. She is also a Certified Densitometry Technologist.

Terra Diskin, RCP, CRT, CPFT, Pulmonary Function Lab, Christie Clinic

Terra Diskin began her health profession as Activities Assistant at a local nursing home when she was 15. Today Diskin is a respiratory care practitioner at Christie Clinic with a specialty in lung function testing. She received her Bachelor’s of Science degree in Healthcare Administration from Franklin University in Columbus, Ohio, her AAS in Applied Science and her CNA from Parkland College in Champaign.
