Runner’s Symposium Scheduled for February

The Christie Foundation is pleased to present the 4th Annual Runners’ Symposium on Saturday, February 21 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Hilton Garden Inn. Doors open at 10:30 a.m. The two-hour symposium is sponsored by the Christie Foundation, the charitable arm of Christie Clinic.

The symposium was developed to educate runners planning to compete in the upcoming Christie Clinic Illinois Marathon on April 23, 24, and 25th.

This year’s symposium featured speaker will be seasoned runner and Sports Medicine Physician, Dr. Scott Paluska. In the Department of Sports Medicine, Dr. Paluska provides care to patients with diseases of the musculoskeletal system, including fractures, deformities, or injuries of the bones, muscles, joints, or tendons. His special interests include sports injuries, shoulder, elbow and knee disorders.

Medical professionals will provide panel discussions and answer questions on the participants’ hot topics. The panelists for this event are Orthopedic Surgeons Dr. Richard Goding and Dr. Muthana Sartawi, Athletic Trainer Rick Jean, and Physical Therapist Danielle Brinkley. “Ask the Doctor” booths will be manned by Internists Dr. Nathan Walker and Dr. Sumuk Sundaram, Obstetricians and Gynecologists Dr. Candace McGregor and Dr. Tamara Helfer, and Registered Dietician Jane Valentine.
